IKEA MALM Dresser Dimensions: Will It Fit Your Room?

The IKEA MALM wide 6-drawer dresser is 63 in wide, 19 in deep and 30 3/4 in high (160 × 48 × 78 cm). Leave 24 in (60 cm) in front so the drawers open and you can stand at it, and 18 in (45 cm) at the least. On a wall it needs a room about 43 in (109 cm) deep.

- Wide 6-drawer: 63 × 19 × 30 3/4 in (160 × 48 × 78 cm). Width, depth and height.
- It is a low, wide dresser. At 30 3/4 in it is about the height of a table, so a mirror or a TV can sit on it.
- Other MALM sizes: IKEA has made MALM chests with three and four drawers, and a taller 6-drawer chest. Each has its own size, so check the listing.

- Room depth on a wall: about 43 in (109 cm). The 18 7/8 in (48 cm) dresser plus 24 in (60 cm) in front.
Space You Need Around It
The gaps are the same as for any dresser: a drawer opens about as far as the dresser is deep.
- In front, comfortable: 24 in (60 cm). Room for a drawer to come out and for you to stand at it.
- In front, tight: 18 in (45 cm). The drawer comes out, but you stand to one side.
- Room depth on a wall: about 43 in (109 cm). The 19 in (48 cm) dresser plus 24 in (60 cm) in front.
Where It Fits
At 63 in (160 cm) wide, it takes a wall of about 5 ft 4 in (1.6 m). It suits the foot of a bed or a wall of a bedroom. If it faces the bed, keep 24 in (60 cm) between them so the drawers open and people can pass.
Pushed against a wall, a low dresser leaves the wall above free for a mirror or art.
