Nooked Compared With Other Room Planners
Honest side-by-side pages: what each tool is built for, and when you would pick it over Nooked.
Nooked is one of many tools for planning a room, and it is not the right one for everybody. These pages say plainly what each tool is built around, so you can pick the one that matches what you are doing.
In short: Nooked is for the moment before a purchase. You have a piece open in a shop tab and want to know whether it fits your room, at its real size, with space left around it. If you want to design a whole room from nothing, see it in 3D or render it, another tool will probably suit you better.
- Nooked vs IKEA's Planners: IKEA's planners are free tools for designing with IKEA products: room planners, IKEA Kreativ for 3D rooms, and planners for systems like PAX wardrobes and kitchens. Nooked works with furniture from any shop, IKEA included, and checks whether each piece fits your room at its real size.
- Nooked vs Houzz: Houzz is a home-improvement platform: millions of room photos to save into ideabooks, a directory of professionals, and articles and discussions. It does not give homeowners a floor plan to check furniture against. Nooked does that one thing: it takes a real product from any shop and checks whether it fits your room at its real size.
- Nooked vs Planner 5D: Planner 5D is a full home-design tool: draw a floor plan, furnish it from its own catalog and see it in 3D. Nooked does one narrower job: it takes a real product from a shop page and checks whether it fits your room at its real size.
- Nooked vs Spoak: Both let you save real products from any shop. Spoak is built around designing: styled room mock-ups, mood boards and a community that gives feedback. Nooked is built around fitting: whether a piece fits your room at its real size, with space left around it.
- Nooked vs Roomantic: These two are close. Both let you paste a product link from a shop and see the piece at its real size on your floor plan. Roomantic is an iPhone and iPad app that can scan a room with LiDAR and show it in 3D. Nooked runs in the browser on any device and focuses on checking the space around each piece.
- Nooked vs Roomstyler: Roomstyler is a 3D room planner with a large catalog of furniture from real brands, plus a gallery of rooms by its community. Nooked takes any product from any shop page and checks whether it fits your room at its real size, with space left around it.
What Nooked does and does not do
- Works in the browser on a computer, tablet or phone. Nothing to install, and a Chrome extension for saving from shop pages.
- Paste a link from any shop and Nooked reads the name, picture, price and size from the page.
- Compare pieces from different shops side by side: price, size, footprint and whether each one fits.
- A 2D floor plan at real scale. Pieces are never silently resized.
- Checks the space around each piece: sofa to coffee table, walkways, chairs pulled out from a table, and door swing.
- Plan a home together: invite a partner or housemate and you both edit the same home.
- Color palettes built from pieces you like or already have, to help the paint, rug and cushions go with them.
- A moodboard of your finds, and one shopping list for the whole home.
- No 3D view, no photo-style renders, no room scanning and no CAD export.
We make Nooked. Facts about other tools come from their own websites and, where those say little, published reviews. Checked on 7 October 2026.
