Nooked vs IKEA's Planners
IKEA's planners are free tools for designing with IKEA products: room planners, IKEA Kreativ for 3D rooms, and planners for systems like PAX wardrobes and kitchens. Nooked works with furniture from any shop, IKEA included, and checks whether each piece fits your room at its real size.
Choose Nooked when
- Your room mixes IKEA with pieces from other shops, or you have not decided where to buy yet.
- You are deciding between pieces from different shops and want price, size and fit side by side.
- You want each gap checked and flagged: walkways, the coffee table, dining chairs, door swing.
- You are furnishing a home with someone else and want to plan it together.
- You want help with colors: palettes built from a piece you love or already own.
- You want one plan and one shopping list for the whole home, not one planner per room or product.
Choose IKEA's Planners when
- You are buying an IKEA kitchen, or a system like PAX, BESTÅ or KALLAX, and need to configure its parts.
- You want the design turned straight into a list of IKEA parts to buy.
- Everything in the room will come from IKEA and you want to see it in 3D.

The Main Difference
IKEA's planners are made to help you buy from IKEA, and for IKEA's own systems they are the right tool: a PAX wardrobe or a kitchen has too many parts to work out any other way.
Nooked is for the rest of the room, and for rooms where the pieces come from different places. Paste a link from IKEA or from any other shop and every piece sits on the same plan, at its real size, with the gaps between them checked.
Worth Knowing About IKEA's Planners
There is no single IKEA planner. There are separate tools per room, per product line and IKEA Kreativ for 3D, and none of them will place a sofa from another shop. If your room is not all IKEA, the plan only shows part of it.
Using Both
A common way: configure the wardrobe or kitchen in IKEA's planner, then add the finished size to your Nooked plan along with everything else from other shops, and check that it all fits together.
Common questions
- Is Nooked an IKEA planner alternative?
- For rooms with furniture from more than one shop, yes: Nooked places pieces from any shop, IKEA included, at their real size. For configuring an IKEA kitchen or a PAX wardrobe, use IKEA's own planner.
- Can I add IKEA products to Nooked?
- Yes. Paste the link to an IKEA product page and Nooked reads the name, picture, price and size, the same as for any other shop.
- Can I add other shops' furniture to the IKEA planner?
- No. IKEA's planners and IKEA Kreativ only offer IKEA products.
We make Nooked. Facts about other tools come from their own websites and, where those say little, published reviews. Checked on 7 October 2026. Sources: IKEA planners.
